Self Employed?

PCA Daily News

Are you self-employed?

This week the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) came to life.

Under this scheme self-employed workers will be able to apply for taxable grants to combat a loss of income due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The grants are worth up to 80% of your profits. This is capped at £2,500 a month and is taxable. As it’s a grant, it means you don’t have to pay it back.

Applications opened Wednesday 13 May 2020. Payments are due by Monday 25 May provided that it is at least six working days from application.

Payments may be backdated to cover March, April and May.

The scheme will operate across the UK and is set to last for at least three months. This could be extended.

UPDATE: Getting Cash when you can’t leave the house.

Last week we mentioned that the banks will deliver cash to those who cannot get to the cash machines.

This is the case and many banks have sent letters to the clients, who they perceive as vulnerable, providing contact details so that they can access their cash.

These contact details may not be displayed on the bank’s websites. If you haven’t received a letter from your bank and you need cash, then please call your bank’s
regular number and ask for the information to be sent out to you.

If you need help with any of this, or some further advice, we have a volunteer team dedicated to helping you out.

They are researching various topics and have links to local and national agencies. If you’re stuck on something you can email them at advice@ourpca.uk or phone 01672 487022.
