Keeping Connected

PCA Daily News

We all know how necessary this lockdown is to curb the rise in the infection rate in Wiltshire and beyond. It doesn’t make it any easier though and the isolation can be tough. Whether you’re on your own, or struggling through home schooling, there are services to help you.

Many, if not all of us are going through hard times and it is important for our mental and physical health to keep connected with others. Since the start of the pandemic, PCCA Buddy Crew have delivered a vital service of supporting our VIP’s with a regular friendly chat on the phone, and we will continue to offer confidential support for Pewsey area residents. This service is open to anyone over 18, but there are national helplines to help people of school age.

If you or anyone you know would like a good old natter to one of our buddies, please don’t hesitate to call us on 01672 487022 or email buddy@ourpca.uk and we will match you up with a like minded buddy. You can also register here at ourpca.uk.

Some people’s needs will be more specific, so if you are feeling stuck we can help signpost you to a more appropriate agency.

The local mental health support service is available 24/7 on 0300 303 1320. If you can’t get through and need to speak to someone urgently, call 111.

If you are a parent of, or are of school age and you would like to chat with someone you can email Childline at childline.org.uk or phone 0800 1111, Samaritans at samaritans.org or phone 116 123. These are operating 24/7.

Home-Start Kennet supports Wiltshire parents with a child under the age of 5. Text the word family to 66 777 or email hskadmin@homestartkennet.co.uk to see if they can help.

The clergy and lay ministers of the parishes within the Vale of Pewsey are available to listen to all residents, of any faith, or none, and to offer support in whatever way they can. Churches are open as places of quiet reflection. Visit www.valeofpewsey.org.

The Silver Line is a free, confidential helpline providing information, friendship and advice to older people. Open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Call 0800 470 8090.

Please don’t struggle through alone, together we are stronger.
